Katrina Khaw

Malevolent

Malevolent is a psychological horror short film set in an isolated country manor, where a quiet housemaid becomes entangled in the explosive tensions of a volatile couple’s unraveling marriage. As the emotional conflict spirals, something darker begins to stir. Unbeknownst to them all, a malevolent spirit—long bound to the house—is awakening, feeding off the hatred within its walls. As the line between psychological torment and supernatural threat blurs, the housemaid must face an ancient evil determined to destroy every soul under its roof.

Katrina Khaw is an emerging writer-director whose work explores psychological tension, atmospheric storytelling, and the blurred line between reality and the supernatural. With a background in screen production and a distinctive visual style, she crafts intimate narratives with eerie, cinematic precision.

Her latest short film, Malevolent, delves into the horrors that fester behind closed doors—and the ancient forces they may awaken. The film has been selected for multiple film festivals and has received several awards, affirming her talent behind both the lens and in the director’s chair.

Independent Film Curse of the Influencers, Directed by Saie Surendra, Born from SHY Films Events Hits the Festival Circuit

SHY Films is delighted to share the success story of Curse of the Influencers, an independent film directed by Saie Surendra that grew directly out of our Soho networking events. The film’s cast and crew first connected at one of our gatherings, where creative professionals from across the industry came together to collaborate.

In 2024, Curse of the Influencers was proudly premiered at a subsequent SHY Films event, offering our community the very first opportunity to see the project on screen. Since then, it has continued its journey on the international festival circuit, earning recognition for its powerful storytelling and strong performances under Saie Surendra’s direction.

This milestone highlights the true spirit of SHY Films events: fostering connections that lead to meaningful artistic projects and celebrating them within the community where they first began.
